FAQs
Is a doula a midwife?
No. A doula is an emotional and educational support person that does not perform any medical tasks. I am here to assist you in research, advocacy and education through bodily health, herbalism and emotional wellness.
How many clients do you have at one time?
As a full spectrum doula, I attend births as well as postpartum time and abortions. I try not to take on more than 2 - 4 birth, abortion or postpartum clients in one month in order to allow for rejuvenation time. I try to have at most 3-5 clients in each area per season.
What are the benefits of having a doula?
Recent studies show that when doulas are present, the timing as well as pain of labor can decrease as much as 50%! Additionally, the bonding time between parents and baby can be much smoother with a doula present during your pregnancy, birth and postpartum process. Overrall, having a doula present can allow you to fully enjoy and be educated and supported around the whole process of your birth and postpartum experience.
What else do you do?
I am a licensed massage therapist, certified yoga teacher and doula, also herbal enthusiast. I have a degree in Africana Studies and often engage in regular continuing education. I absolutely adore the body and healing the trauma in the body, which impact ways that I am able to show up in this work.
